I have a Snoopy obsession: at age 14, I wrote a spoof based on one of his infamous air battles with the Red Baron--I was actually writing about a football game--for my high school newspaper. I also translated the speaking parts in "You're In Love, Charlie Brown" into Latin (!), and then directed the play. As a seven year old, I'd written something about a "Puppets Show" (in my broken English). Remember Classics Illustrated comic books? My favorite was Gulliver's Travels. Many, many years later, I added Carrie Bradshaw to my list of obsessions. I can't fight it any longer: I'm a humorist who sometimes stretches all the way to satire. I also love to wallow deeply in nostalgia, I would have loved to have taken Pauline Kael on...and now I'm discovering playwriting. Heaven help us all...
